Park on a side street
Try to put coins in the parking meter, but it’s broken.
Provincetown AA meeting
Approaching one week sober.
Reading too much Bukowski.
Oh how he thought the world
Was full of too many words
Filling the libraries with aluminum tears.
A man of refined tastes
Women, Chopin, whiskey, horses-
I wonder if I will write better sober
Than I did drunk
Bukowski would have scowled
(But don’t worry, I won’t edit this)
I just hope I don’t disappoint
My mind is just another broken parking meter
Counting impossible time.
